The article deals with the perception of the concept of corruption in the UK of the XVIII century. It was revealed that the system of corruption permeated throughout the XVIII century. all the political life of England, and it was especially rampant in the second quarter of the eighteenth century. At the head of the corruption processes was R. Walpole and his Ministry, while his actions differed little from the level of public morality of the British elite of that time.
