Population reproduction in regions of Northwestern federal district: condition, problems

The main indicators of the population reproduction in northern regions of the Northwestern Federal District (birth rate, mortality, child mortality, population increase, morbidity, migration, natural population increase, natural population decline, life expectancy) and indicators of social and economic development are considered. A comparative analysis of the regions located in the Northwestern Federal District with the Russian Federation and some developed countries with market economy was carried out. The obtained results show that the high mortality rate and low life expectancy are characteristic of the Russian Federation and regions of the Northwestern Federal District. A correlation between levels of social and economic development in developed countries and Russia inclusive of northwestern regions is shown. High level of the social and economic development increases the level of life expectancy.
