Determination of ionospheric disturbance parameters using dynamics of sickle-shaped features on ionograms

This paper studies cusp-shaped features on slightly oblique ionograms along the Usolie-Sibirskoe-Tory radio path. We compare them to synthesised ionograms obtained using the software that realises (in the geometrical optics approximation) algorithm for 2D adjustment of trajectories in magnetoactive medium. We have developed a method that enables us to calculate parameters of electron density disturbances (causing the cusp-shaped features under observation), using dynamics of these features.
