The paper deals with a sociological approach to analyzing the inclusion in urban space and determines its indicators. The author analyzes the theory of city for people by the Danish architect and urban design consultant Jan Gehl. The critical understanding of modernist urban development and the need to find a different approach to urban planning have been embodied in the concept of city for people. This theory is an ideal-typical construct that means a safe, eco-friendly, inclusive city with comfortable spaces for pedestrians and cyclists. A city for people creates a communicative space conducive to communication between individuals and the accumulation of social and cultural capital. Jan Gehl systematized and applied the approach to urban planning, which later became known as new urbanism.
