Institution of a criminal case of public accusation

In this article, the author analyzes the procedure for initiating a criminal case of public prosecution in accordance with the Russian criminal procedure legislation. In particular, the duties of officials, such as investigators and inquirers, to receive, register and verify reports of crimes are considered. The procedure for documenting and registering such reports, as well as the mechanism for making decisions based on the verification conducted, are examined. The author focuses on the specifics of initiating criminal cases against certain categories of persons established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, including the need to coordinate with the competent authorities and comply with the procedure for depriving immunity.
