Electrochemical and gravimetric researches of corrosion resistance of pipe steel 40X are conducted. Influence of the environment in which the main pipelines can be operated is studied. Speed of corrosion of pipe steel in the salt corrosion environment, imitation of sea climate is more, than in other studied environments (peat, marsh, river and soil-sand waters). Gravimetric and electrochemical methods studied influence of the nature of soil on corrosion of X40 steel used in production of gas-pipelines.
