The cultivation of sunflower in Kuban during the post-reform period (1861-1917)

The present article considers the basic stages of cultivation of such a non-crop as sunflower by case study of Kuban region from 1861 till 1917. The history of the sunflower crop appearance in this region is reviewed briefly. The author discusses the rapid pace of sunflower crop introduction in the Kuban rural production, and as a result, the progress of the oil-mill industry.
