Possibility to adjust the current practice of assessing the social development of regions

This article analyzes the process of assessing the social development of Russian regions. The author draws attention to the fact that the domestic practice of assessing the social development of regions is actually carried out as part of a comprehensive socio-economic assessment. From the existing methods, it is proposed to identify the social component, its key indicators, and determine the aggregate indicator of social development of regions. It is noted that the research is based on the methodology of the rating Agency “RIA-Rating”. The article describes the application of a modified algorithm for determining the integral indicator of social development on the example of the regions of the Central Federal district. The rating of these regions is calculated, and the obtained partial and integral indicators are described. It is concluded that the results can be used for further comparative analysis of the social development of regions.
