Opportunities and limitations of spatial development of the Russian Federation in the long term period

The federal law No. 172-FZ “About the strategic planning in the Russian Federation” introduces the document taking the central place in the system of the state strategic planning i.e. the strategy of spatial development of the Russian Federation. In the article the domestic and foreign experience of preparation and implementation of strategic documents is analyzed, and also domestic and foreign methodologies and practices of the strategic planning of the development in relation to the tasks and conditions determining the stability of social and economic development of Russia and its regions at the beginning of the XXI century are anylized.
