The paper again raises the issue of the role of educational subject in the training of Bachelors and development of students, competences. It considers the approach to using an educational subject in the training of Bachelors on the basis of the identification of its educational potential in accordance with those competences which an educational subject is intended to form. The example of mathematical disciplines shows the mechanism to determine their educational potential in the training of Bachelors of Liberal Studies.
