Opportunities for using digital technologies in the process of investigative actions

The article examines the issues of using digital technologies in the production of investigative actions, their capabilities. The author claims that digitalization has now permeated all areas of human activity, and that it is no exception to the sphere of criminal proceedings, which actively uses digital technology: audio and video recording, photography, filming, video-conferencing, etc. The necessity of recognizing audio and video recording materials as an alternative to the protocol of the investigative action and wide use of remote formats of investigative actions (for example, through video-conferencing systems), with an indication of the drawbacks and possibilities of their improvement is substantiated. In conclusion, it is noted that one of the first tasks of conceptual development of key strategic aspects of digitalization of criminal proceedings is to develop the conceptual apparatus of digitalization, in this regard, it is reasonably proposed to introduce the term “digital technology” in the list of basic concepts used in the CPC of the Russian Federation (Art. 5). An attempt is made to independently (author’s) formulate a definition of this concept.
