The article assesses the effectiveness of Russia's foreign policy concept in the South Caucasus. The Russian Federation acts in the region under consideration as a mediator in the settlement of disputes, including the territorial dispute related to Nagorno-Karabakh. This confrontation has lasted for many decades, and all attempts to finally resolve it have so far been unsuccessful. Russia is interested in expanding its influence in the Transcaucasus, which it has long exercised by maintaining cooperative relations with both Armenia and Azerbaijan. However, the change in the geopolitical situation, which occurred due to the start of the Special Military Operation in Ukraine, leads to the fact that this strategy is rapidly losing its effectiveness. The Russian Federation needs to renounce its neutrality and begin fully supporting Armenia, which could potentially prove to be Moscow's only ally in the region.
