The article is devoted to the attitude of the inhabitants of the Novosibirsk region to their place of residence and related to the migratory moods of local residents related to the content of this relationship. In the course of a sociological survey conducted in five municipal districts of the Novosibirsk region it was found that the attitude towards the area of residence is formed not only on the basis of assessments of living conditions in it and under the influence of personal factors. This ratio is also the result of its comparison with neighboring regions that are close in many characteristics (economic and geographical location, natural and climatic conditions) but often differ in terms of quality and level of life. It turned out that the Kemerovo region and the Altai Krai were attractive to the respondents who according to objective indicators of the level and quality of life are far from the leading positions in the Siberian Federal District but they show good results in the sphere of industrial and agricultural production. Conversely the Krasnoyarsk Krai which is relatively rarely mentioned by respondents has a consistently high rating score on the quality of life of the population although they are not distinguished by production volumes. It is also concluded that in the age group, the respondents of the older age are fully or generally happy with their area, and men almost twice as often as women noted the option of full satisfaction with the place of residence.
