The potential of e-learnig courses in monitoring students'' Learning activity in the process of teaching a foreign language

The article is devoted to monitoring students' learning activity in the process of teaching a foreign language by means of e-learning courses (ELC) developed in Siberian Federal University (SFU) on the basis of the LMS Moodle. The focus of the article is the data obtained as a result of testing one of these courses in the Engineering and Construction Institute of SFU, allowing the authors to conclude that the ELC tools make it possible to check the formedness of foreign language and communicative competencies in the following way: Assignment Tool checks speaking, pronunciation and listening skills; Test Tool deals with grammar and vocabulary skills; Forum and Chat Tools work with reading and writing skills. The objectivity of the results of this type of work allows using ELC as an effective means of monitoring students' learning activity.
