Possibilities of VAC-therapy application in the treatment of trophic ulcers and purulent wounds in patients with critical limb ischemia syndrome

The theoretical and practical issues of the possibility of using the technology of «vacuum-assisted closure therapy» (VAC-therapy, «negative pressure wound therapy» (NPWT)) in the complex treatment of critical limb ischemia (CLI) are considered in the article. The experience of using VAC-therapy with VivanoTec® system (Germany) in 7 patients with atherosclerotic trophic ulcers and 14 patients with wound infections is presented. We compared the healing rate of ulcerative defects, the severity of the pain syndrome, the development of complications, as well as the need for performing landmark necroectomies and amputations.
