The present study was undertaken to analyze the results of surgical treatment for 300 lung cancer patients, of whom 150 underwent pneumonectomies or lobectomies with systemic mediastinal bilateral lymphodissection. Postoperative complications were registered in 32 (21.3 %) patients, of them «surgical» complications were observed in 13.3% of the patients and «non-surgical» in 8.0 % of the patients. Postoperative lethality rate was 6.7 %. In the control group (150 patients), where surgery was not followed by mediastinal lymphodissection, the complication rate was 18.7 % and lethality rate was 20 %. When following the adequate technical procedures, bilateral mediastinal lymphodissection resulted no in surgical risk increase for lung cancer patients.
