Occurrence, circulation and factors of development of rumor

Rumor is still one of the main regimes to transmit unofficial oral news. It's obvious that rumor has been actively spreading in mass-media and Internet for the recent 20 years. Mostly a typological view of this object of social-communicative kind is proposed in the article: different classifications of rumor, some factors of its successful circulation in social groups, transmission mechanism are considered. The correlation between rumor and gossip is discussed as a special subject.
