Age-related characteristic features of Russian compliments

The article aims at determining and analysing linguistic features in the process of production and perception of compliments by representatives of different age groups, belonging to the Russian culture. Representatives of different age groups speak differently, therefore, it proves essential to elicit the way the age-related parameter of the speaker manifests itself in his/her language use. The methods of contextual analysis, semantic and pragmatic interpretation, and quantitative estimation are used in the study. The research reveals different characteristic features in producing compliments by the representatives of mature age-related identity and youth age-related identity. The results of the study can be used in some academic courses.
