The article discusses various aspects of the tradition of slow reading, which has attracted the attention of researchers in recent decades. This tradition is rooted in the depths of medieval Christian culture, in the tradition of Lectio Divina. The connection of the methods of slow reading with the modernist literature of the XX century is indicated. The conjugation of this tradition with the projective nature of human time is discussed.
