The aricle covers the life and professional activities of professor Victor Alexandrovich Muravyev (1941 – 2009), a graduate of Moscow State Institute for History and Archives (MSIHA) in connection with the Russian historiography of the XX – early XXI centuries. It highlights the creative atmosphere of scholarly research at Moscow State Institute for History and Archives, different stages of V.A.Muravyev's research and academic career, the analysis of his historiographic heritage and the assessment of his contribution to the development of Russian historical science.
