Second division of the NKVD troops of the USSR for the protection of railway structures on the protection of the October, Leningrad and Kirov railways (June-August 1941)

The article is devoted to the contribution of the NKVD troops of the USSR for the protection of railway structures in the fight against Nazi aggression on the Northern front at the beginning of the Great Patriotic war. The main tasks that were solved by the second division of the NKVD troops when protecting the railway infrastructure were defined. The conclusion is made about the high severity of the problem of countering enemy saboteurs operating on railway communications.
