The authors present some results of a sociological study on students’ secondary employment. The study was conducted among students and alumni of the Buryat State University in April-May 2019. The results obtained made it possible to identify the following characteristics of students’ secondary employment: the reasons for finding a job, a work schedule, and the most common areas of activity and occupations. The survey of students revealed when searching to work in their major field, graduates may encounter problems such as low wages, intense competition, and lack of work experience, suitable vacancies, job in a suitable organization, and demand for a profession. The study showed that most alumni had a positive view of their work experience during their student days. Alumni, who worked in their student life, were quickly adapted to a new job due to previous experience and labor skills.
