Choice of attorney-defender in criminal proceedings by the contractor: statement of the problem and its scientific, educational potential

Purpose: The article deals with the problem of the client's choice of an attorney-defender in criminal proceedings, which has been little studied in legal science. The goal is to identify directions for solving this problem. Methodology: Analytical, formal legal, comparative legal methods and educational approach were used. Results: Taking into account the interdisciplinary nature of the ways of solving the problem, an incomplete list of legal sciences (and their sections), academic disciplines, where it is necessary to develop recommendations on the choice of a lawyer and interaction with him, is proposed. Novelty/originality/value: The author is one of the first to substantiate the urgency of the problem both for citizens, law enforcement, and legal education and legal education. For the first time, the forms and content of relevant educational and awareness-raising activities are proposed.
