This article discusses the design and operation of an induction dynamic motor (IDM) used in pulsed non-explosive seismic sources. The Elcut software package is used to simulate various design solutions to obtain numerical values of the amplitude and duration of the generated force characterizing the efficiency of the motor. Based on the results, the following conclusions are drawn regarding the expediency of various design solutions: a) there is no need to manufacture a disk larger than the winding; b) incorporating a magnetic circuit on the winding side increases the force by 8-16 % and the impulse by 11-30 %, but significantly complicates the design; c) no magnetic circuit is needed on the disk side; d) the size of the inter-turn gap has little effect on the generated force; e) the amplitude of the generated force decreases significantly with an increase in the non-magnetic gap between the winding and the disk; f) when a copper disk is replaced with an aluminum one, the force decreases by 11 %. The formulated conclusions allow making a more reasonable choice of motor dimensions and design.
