Selection of optimal methods for determining the development prospects in regional economic systems

The article addresses the improvement of forecasting and planning activities at the regional level. The work states that the regions face a number of problems when creating an image of the socio-economic future, including the nonoptimal selection of methods for the formation of indicators when using the standardized approach. Algorithm for the selection of optimal methods of forecasting of socio-economic indicators in regional strategies is presented. Application of the algorithm includes four interrelated stages: the choice of an indicator (group of indicators), mapping of processes, typologization of processes depending on the degree of predictability, the choice of method. Algorithm applicability is demonstrated on the example of the growth rate indicator (growth index) of the real average per capita monetary income of the population. Markets influencing it are given in the form of a map-scheme and categorized into groups depending on the degree of factors predictability. Obtained results made it possible to select the optimal methods for the forecasting-planning work in the region.
