Elections as a mechanism of legitimation of the political elite power

The article considers the legislative authority elections of the Russian Federation both as an institution of political elite recruitment and as one of the most important mechanisms of the elite power legitimation. The conclusion concerning the fact that the high level of political participation can strengthen legitimacy as well as extent of the reaction of democratic institutions to the needs of population has been drawn on the basis of the carried-out sociological analysis.
