Identification of the characteristic process time in the dynamics of solar activity

This paper investigates the dynamics of the Sun's activity, which is characterized by the Wolf numbers. To determine the almost-periods of the system, the trend component of the time series is excluded on the basis of the theory of proportions. The Alter-Johnson function is applied to determine the periodic component of the series, and the modulus of mathematical expectation depending on the shift of trend exclusion is calculated. The Gompertz model is considered in describing cycles in the dynamics of solar activity.
