The paper considered the link verb гуро in the Avarian language descriptions that have interpreted it as a specific means of expressing a particular negation within the structures of contrast. The study has shown that this link did not differentiate between the common negation and the particular one. In the Avarian and in the kindred Lezguin languages as well, the linking verbs differentiate between the negation of identity (гуро ‘No, it is no something') and the negation of availability (гьеч1о ‘No, it is not available').
