Manifestation of compensatory reactions in third trimester placentas in women with various types of mycoplasma infections

The goal of the study was to evaluate the character of development and degree of manifestation of the compensatory adaptive reactions in mature placentas of pregnant women with urogenital mycoplasma contamination of the lower genital tract. Morphological study was performed using 72 human placentas obtained after physiological labor (38-40 week gestation) of women with confirmed infections of genital tract with U. urealyticum (n=20), M. hominis (n=20), or without infection (n=32). Typical compensatory processes in the placentas were detected in all examined groups with the most significant manifestation in the group of mycoplasma contamination.
