This work examines the interrelationships of language and religion, and a history that goes back to the origins of human civilization. The influence of religion and language on each other is as ancient as humanity itself. It's no secret that people needed a language to communicate, convey messages, feelings, and emotions. Language has accompanied religion from the very beginning, as people needed to use it to perform their religious rituals. Phraseological units are one of the most significant forms of expressive means of language, possessing a high level of artistic imagery and aesthetic value. The process of intercultural communication and the discovery of cultural values is embodied in language, in particular in semantic units. This work is focused on solving two interrelated tasks: firstly, the identification of verses containing parables in the surah "Al-Baqara"; secondly, the analysis of their rhetorical functions and usage features in the context of Quranic discourse. The research methodology is a content analysis that includes the following stages: reading Surah Al-Baqara, identifying verses containing parables, interpreting them, determining their meaning and essence, explaining the reason why these verses are considered parables, and, finally, determining the goals of these parables, which is why this work is relevant. As a result of this work, we came to the conclusion that the surah "Al-Baqara" contains three types of parables: explicit, implicit and hidden. Parables serve an expressive purpose (rhetorical effect), rather than being a simple speech expression.
