Highly efficient ways of production of original fiber flax seeds

We developed a less demanding method of development of lots of original seeds of fiber flax (a method of reserves), based on the repeated reproduction of seed material obtained in the selection of typical plants. We established that this method provides a significant increase in the yield of the original seeds (by 4.6 times), it allows to manage without a nursery for the plant selection for four years, which reduces the costs of labor and funds. The method is most effective when combined with a narrow-row sowing method (6.25 cm between rows). The narrow-row method of sowing, as compared with the wide-row one (22.5 cm), increased the seed yield by 1.2 c/ha. The reproduction of the renewed fiber flax seeds developed at the subsequent stages of primary seed production - in nurseries of the first and second years of reproduction, of mother elite of the 1st and 2nd years turned out to be more efficient with the narrow-row method of sowing. This method provided a significant increase in the yield of the original seeds as compared with the wide-row sowing by 2.2-3.0 c/ha, or by 20.8-30.9%, as well as preservation of high sowing conditions of the original material.
