The Far East of Russia in the history of our country in 1918-1923 occupies a special place. The period under review is characterized by the Civil War, military intervention, the influx of immigrants from other regions of Russia, as well as the existence of a buffer Far Eastern Republic. The uniqueness of the period adds to the spread of higher education in the region. The scientific interest of domestic researchers has affected the process of formation of not only general, but also higher education in the Far East region, however, in our opinion, insufficient attention has been paid to the topic of the formation of higher legal education in the Russian Far East. This situation is connected with the relatively short time of existence of a law school in Vladivostok. The publication of new research allows expanding the opportunity to study the history of legal education and look at the activities of teachers in the Russian Far East. The analysis of the origin of the first higher educational legal institution, carried out in the study, makes it possible to understand the role of the individual in history. Consideration of the structure and content of the educational process provides an opportunity to consider in detail the historical aspect of legal education and draw lessons from the recent past of our country. The presented publication contributes to the understanding of the importance of maintaining the established educational paradigm, the lack of opportunism in the learning process, as well as the apathy of teachers and students. During the period under review, one of the key roles was played by the political transformation of the country. Legal institutions, like the system of law itself, in the Soviet Republic and the USSR were permeated with the class principle. The transition to a new political and economic system was carried out during the Civil War. The system of Soviet law, especially in its early years, was based on the socalled "revolutionary expediency". The purpose of the paper is to study the process of formation of Soviet legal education, which makes it possible to understand the principles of staffing law enforcement agencies at different stages of the Civil War, the specifics of recruiting applicants to educational institutions.
