In the article, considering the question of the relationship between religion and science, the author acquaints the reader with the solution of this problem from Professor N. P. Rozhdestvensky (St. Petersburg Theological Academy, 1840-1882) who, analyzing the origins of the conflict between religion and science, concludes that observance of the principle of delimitation of their competences, and removal from science of an ideological component that is not inherent in it. In his opinion, this allows, on the one hand, to eliminate the existing conflict between them, on the other - to ensure the possibility of their harmonious interaction and complementarity. Studying the developments of modern Western analytical theologians on this issue, the author of the article discovers their desire for a clear and detailed classification of models of the relationship between religion and science, and adherence to the concept of dialogue and (or) integration. This, however, does not always make it possible to identify the essence of the conflict, and, therefore, to determine the ways to resolve it. Te position of the coryphaeuses of the Western analytical tradition of A. Plantinga and S. Davis, which determine the imaginary nature of the conflict between religion and science - in identifying the later with a secular worldview - fully corresponds to the views of prof. N. P. Rozhdestvensky and is close to the author of the article
