This article discusses the historical aspects of the political interaction of Afghanistan with the United States and the USSR. The author describes the main stages of the path of H. Amin to power. Its political activity is examined, from the point of view of maintaining friendly relations with the USSR over the decades, and the simultaneous orientation to the development of socio-economic abuse with the United States. The result of this policy was the assassination of H. Amin by Soviet intelligence during the assault on his palace and the introduction of a "limited contingent" of Soviet troops in Afghanistan, which undermined the precarious balance between different political forces in the country until 1978. Militant Islamism has become the main reaction to “socialism” imposed on Afghanistan.
