Interrelation between changes in functional state of periodontium and autonomic regulation of heart rate in patients with periodontitis

Objective: to study functional state of taste and olfactory analyzers at the stage of treatment of patients with periodontitis. Material and methods: the research was conducted on 38 patients with periodontitis and involved estimation of autonomic regulation, taste and olfaction. We revealed psychovegetative disorders in patients. 26 patients had dysgeusia, 10 had hypogeusia, 2 - ageusia, 12 - dysosmia, 18 - liminal sense olfactory activity. Reults: treatment resulted in improved indices of general state of organism, taste and olfaction in 31 patients in period up to 2 months. 7 patients are still having their treatment. Findings: treatment included modern methods of physical rehabilitation that allowed of improving state of patients with periodontitis.
