The purpose of the study is to consider the phenomenon of the connection between identity and language in philosophical discourse. Within the framework of the overall purpose, the author describes the concept of the essence of language, as well as its dialectical attributes, illustrated by linguistic antinomies. Studying the language and thinking connection leads to the conclusion that one of the important elements of successful speech contact seems to be an adequate vision of the world picture, which significantly forms the identity of the interlocutor. With the spread of global cultural communities in the world, the likelihood of conflicts based on clash of identities is increasing. The scientific novelty of the research is that language and identity are considered in syncretism, as a system. As a result, the author makes a conclusion about the dynamism and dialectics of relations within the chain of language - thinking - linguistic picture of the world - identity. Identity and language acquire new characteristics with the changing of the historical context. The development of global communities threatens the emergence of conflicts between hosts of identities.
