Interrelation of the physical image of "I" and the psychological defense mechanism of disabled person with the defeat of the musculo-skeletal system

The article contains the results of an empirical study based on identifying characteristics of the relationship of psychological defense mechanisms of personality and physical image "I" disabled with damage to the musculoskeletal system. Disability is associated with lesions of the musculoskeletal system and was due to a variety of injuries, according to their psychological effect, is a serious and difficult going through a crisis of identity. The author substantiates the relevance of the study, determines the degree of its scientific elaboration, formulates a hypothesis and tests it in the course of empirical research. The study found that self-pity, self-centeredness determines the attractiveness of anatomical exaggeration and social characteristics of the physical image of "I", as well as resentment, vulnerability, ambition, jealousy, hostility. The desire to overcome the traumatic circumstances, to correct their shortcomings determines an increase in the distortion of the image of the functional characteristics of the physical "I". Rationalization is the mechanism of psychological defense, determines the adequacy of their perception of physicality and desire for self-management of their physical "I".
