The relationship between optimism and success of traders economic decisions

This article presents a study of the optimism and success of economic decisions of traders. The literature review revealed the following contradiction: on the one hand, according to the studies, optimism is a predictor of successful activities, on the other, it is a common cause of errors, especially in economic decision-making. The sample of the study was 630 professional traders. Specially developed technology for the study of optimism as a cognitive distortion was used. It was found a positive correlation between traders self-esteem of their professional success and pessimism. Moreover, traders with high levels of optimism had higher level of unrealistic optimism.
