The issue of oikonomia is often like a stumbling block in communication between local Churches. The main controversy arises when different practices of joining the Orthodox Church are compared. The ambiguity of the issue originates from the lack of a unified teaching of the Church boundaries and of the Sacraments outside the eucharistic boundary of the Church. In addition, the oikonomia concept itself is not defined and it is not possible to define it just in terms of canon law. A way of conceptualizing oikonomia by returning to its original meanings in the Scripture and ancient Greek philosophy is proposed in the article. In such a case, the meaning of oikonomia can be defined as the housekeeping of God, administration that is wise and brings everything to the state in which it was conceived by God. After considering the concept of beauty in theology, the conclusion is made that the concept of oikonomia resembles it. This conclusion leads to an attempt to consider how the idea of oikonomia can be used in the field of canon law in the perspective of the theology of beauty. Finally, a criterion is proposed by which true oikonomia can be separated from lawlessness.
