The views of Abu al-Hasan al-Mawardi on the state and authority

The article analyzes the role of al-Mawardi’s views in the history of the Muslim world, tells about the personality of Abu al-Hasan al-Mawardi and his political doctrine of Islam and the state. According to his teachings, the foundation of the ideal state includes two factors: the legal aspect and morality. According to al-Mawardi, the management of social systems is significant for ensuring growth and development of spiritual and human personality. These views, taken into service in the Middle Ages, have retained their importance nowadays, when moral principles are derived outside the control of political and legal norms in favor of selfish interests of the forces, fighting for world domination. Today the ideas of al-Mawardi are used in academic circles as an important fundamental source.
