The paper proves that the existing wording of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code and the existing court practice of sentencing for taking bribes do not ensure effective prevention of bribery. Proposals on improving certain types of punishment and sanctions stated in Art. 290 of the Criminal Code are justified.
