The purpose of the study was to investigate the cancer morbidity and mortality among the population in settlements situated in areas exposed to contaminants from the Siberian Chemical Plant (SCP). The cancer incidence rate in settlements situated in the northern and north-eastern directions from the Plant was higher than in the control regions. The cancer incidence in 6 settlements of Naumovka region located in 30 km from the SCP from the windward side was similar to that observed in population of Seversk city and the Tomsk region as a whole. Lung and stomach cancers were the most common malignances among male population and breast, stomach and liver cancers among female population. Cancer mortality was the 4-th cause of death in this population. Lung and stomach cancers were the common cause of cancer mortality (16,7 % and 16,7 %, respectively).
