Caring as work: institualization of commercial care services in Ukraine

The paper sets put to analysis of the process of institualization of commercial care services in Ukraine, regarded in the context of demographic change and across the background of women’s outmigration for work abroad. The analytical framework of the per implies the analysis of market of care services as one of four components of “care diamond”, an architecture outlining the correlation between state, market, family and the non-for-profit sectors responsible for care provision in society. The conclusions of the paper are drawing from the analysis of the results of field research. The paper traces the process of “commercialization of care” in Ukraine as a new market trend, analyzes the factors, contributing to commercialization of care services, sets out new forms of commercial and quasi-commercial care services with emphasis on social challenges stemming from the process of commercialization of care.
