On the basis of the Diocesan Gazette and archival materials, an attempt is made to highlight the feat of the missionary service of Bishop Macarius (Darsokgo) in the most remote dioceses of the Russian Empire in the second half of the 19th century. It is noted that Bishop Macarius continued the traditions of the outstanding Russian missionaries of the 18th-19th centuries. His activities contributed to the solution of many issues facing the state and the Church in the 19th century, since the factor of spiritual enlightenment and education of the local population played an important role in the development of the Far East. As a bishop of one of the most distant and largest dioceses, he worked for a long time and fruitfully to establish Orthodoxy and raise the authority of the clergy among the local population.
