In this article, the authors explore the problem of assessing the opinion of a specialist in criminal proceedings. The authors note that there are imperfections in the legal framework, which significantly complicates the use of evidence as a conclusion of a specialist in evidence. To solve this problem, it is proposed to provide for the right of a specialist to give an opinion within his competence, including on issues not put to him by the parties, but related to the subject of the study.
