This article explores one of the stages of the legislation development on state protection in Ancient Rome. The changes during Sulla dictatorship were an important stage in the development of the Roman state. His legislative initiatives left a noticeable trace in world history. The law of Sulla on the protection of the state was one of the first to equate crimes against magistrates (i.e. state officials) to crimes against the state itself.
