Protection of human rights in armed conflicts

Бесплатный доступ

Armed conflicts result in devastation and human suffering, with the protection of human rights being a top priority. International law provides norms for ensuring safety and protection during conflicts. The Geneva Conventions and additional protocols serve as key instruments in this context, establishing state obligations concerning the safeguarding of civilian populations and non-combatants. Nevertheless, in practice, compliance with these norms encounters challenges and violations, as evident in the case of the conflict between Palestine and Israel. Controversial issues encompass questions related to occupation, settlements, blockade, the use of force, and human rights, as well as the fate of refugees. This article underscores the significance of conflict resolution and adherence to international norms for the protection of human rights and the achievement of peace in the region.
