The paper systemizes materials of the dendrochronological study of wood from excavations in the Novgorod Bishop’s court conducted in various years. The studies produced dendrochronological dates of 82 samples from houses and structures in the Bishop’s court and determined the construction time of 20 buildings of the 12th-19th centuries. The analysis of quantitative and chronological distribution of the dendrochronological dates enabled the author to justify the dating of the houses and structures as well as identify the periods of active construction in this part of the Detinets. The 14th century layers revealed linkage between the construction periods in the residence of the Novgorod bishops and city fires which is also observed in other Novgorod excavation trenches. The dates of the wood parts of stone buildings obtained by the dendrochronological study confirm that the ruins of the metropolitan’s place date to the medieval period and can serve as an additional argument for identifying of the Church of the Nativity of Christ in Seni.
