Building of non-classical secondary school in Chelyabinsk as proof of forming of a trade and administrative centre of South Ural

Specific features of the architectural decision of the building of the Non-classical Secondary School in Chelyabinsk, built under the project by architect V.N. Chaplitsa in 1904-1907, are considered in the article. Brief information regarding the urban planning policy of the city authorities in the beginning of the 20th century, as well as the information on the history of the creation of the monument is given. Formal stylistic analysis, and namely analysis of its architectural and compositional, space-planning and structural solutions is conducted. Graphic materials illustrating the main points of the study are shown. Based on the comparative analysis of the archive materials and technical drawings (plans, facades) of the Non-classical Secondary School and other educational institutions in Chelyabinsk of that time, the uniqueness of the monument under examination for culture and history of the Ural region is determined and articulated in the article. Based on the conducted study, the conclusions about the importance of the building of the Non-classical Secondary School in the context of the socio-economic history of the city are made.
