The Iron Cheek-Pieces from the Krasnoe Znamya Cemetery: Typology and Production Technology

A lot of attention is paid to archaeometallography of the finds from the Early Iron Age as these objects reflect the early stage of black metal use. Methods such as electronic microscopy offer new possibilities for examining archaeological items made of ferrous metal. The study of the collection made up of cheek-pieces from kurgan 7 at the Krasnoe Znamya cemetery has demonstrated a high level of blacksmithing skills.
